My 4 year old sons eye problem

I know this is completely off subject but I need to vent. My 4 year old sons eye became bloodshot about a week and a half ago. When I took a closer look, I noticed a lump on his eye and the redness was all around this lump. The lump by the way is on the white part of his eye.

My husband and I totally freaked and couldn't sleep all night and was sick with worry. This was a friday of course. So saturday morning I started calling places to see who could see him. I took him to my other sons eye doctor and he said it was a cyst and that it has probably always been there but because something irritated it,it became more noticeable. He said to come back in a week and gave me some eye drops.

The eye drops did not help at all and I actually started using artificial tears to help with the irritation. They helped some but when I used some erythromycin ointment from a pink eye problem before, that seemed to help some with the redness.

But it has been almost a week and the lump is still there. I have worried myself sick and so has my husband. I am actually physically sick right now with a cold. I think I worried so much it lowered my immune system a little. We have no insurance and that is another worry but I just don't know what to think. I would have thought I would have noticed this if it had always been there.

We go back to the eye doctor on Monday but I am so so worried. Does anyone have any experience with this?? Has anyone ever heard of this or know someone who has heard of it? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
